Winners of Season 2 Group A

In the Popular Choice category, Robin Kalita and Lalita Laxminarayan were winners and in Editor’s Choice, it was Padma Sahasrabudhe and Ratan Sawai

The objective of Seniors Have Talent is to recognise and encourage the immense talent that exists in the ever-growing number of senior citizens in the world. But, more importantly, the idea is for all participants to have fun as they share their talent.

Season 2 of Seniors Have Talent took off on November 29 and on Sunday, December 6, the winners of Group A were announced. 

First a look at the winners: In the Popular Choice category, Robin Kalita and Lalita Laxminarayan were winners and in Editor’s Choice, it was Padma Sahasrabudhe and Ratan Sawai.


Robin Kalita

A retired civil servant, Robin Kalita (aka Rabindra Nath Kalita) was an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 1981 exam batch of the civil services.

Kalita has seemingly achieved it all. He has acted in films, theatre, TV, radio and on stage, been a quizmaster on TV, radio etc for over 30 years, anchored programmes on TV, radio and stage and delivered talks and lectures in various forums in India and internationally.

Kalita has travelled extensively all over the world, but music has been his lifelong fodder for his soul. Dr Bhupen Hazarika, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore Kumar are his favourites. A table maestro, he loves to sing, paint, act, travel and anchor the occasional show.

 


Lalita Laxminarayan

Singer- Asha Bhosle
Music- Roshan
Film- Dil Hi To Hai

Lalita Laxminarayan spent her childhood in Pune, Mumbai before settling down in Bengaluru.

Strongly influenced her mother and brother, she took to singing. Today, she finds it greatly therapeutic and an energy booster. 

Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Mukesh are her gurus in music and she finds Seniors Have Talent provides a great opportunity and platform to try our capability in singing. Her skills also extend in creating useable artefacts out of waste and unused things.

 


Padma Sahasrabudhe

Song- Raina Biti Jaye, Shyam Naa Aaye
Singer- Lata Mangeshkar
Music- R D Burman
Film- Amar Prem

Padma Sahasrabudhe was born and brought up in Nagpur in Maharashtra.  She inherited her passion for music from her paternal family and has been listening to Lata Mangeshkar, and Asha Bhosle since childhood.  In 1979, she received master’s degree in vocal music. 

Sahasrabudhe runs her own business of stitched ready-to-wear Marathi kashta saree, and she is a pioneer in this unique business. She received the honour of being chosen as one of the Top 3 in woman entrepreneurs of the year 2019 at Vidharbha Industry Association.

 


Ratan Ramrao Sawai

Song- Ooo Manjhi Re
Singer- Kishore Kumar
Music- R D Burman
Film- Khushboo

Ratan Sawai was born in Beed and now lives in Pune. 

He has been singing since three decades is influenced by Yesudas. Sawai took the Madhyma Purn exam in Classical Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya; and has performed many stage shows in Maharashtra. 

Winning the first prize is second skin to Ratan as he has achieved this feat several times. Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafiand  Yesudas are his all-time favourites

 

The four winners will now make it to the Season Grand Finale which will be held in January 2021.
