5 Way to train yourself to wake up early in the morning

Rise and Shine.

Waking up early is the best way to be productive throughout the day. Its benefits do not limit just to being productive but also waking up early sets a sleep routine, improves mental health, helps solve problems better, relieves stress and sets a positive tone to the day. If you are not a morning person, waking up early may seem next to impossible but with little effort, you will find yourself soaking up the morning sun every day.

Here are the 5 ways to train yourself leap out of bed in no time.

  1. Light
  • Nighttime – Keep your curtain closed at night. Minimum lighting at night will help induce sleep. You will not only sleep better but it will help you wake up fresh.
  • Morning time – Draw the curtain and let sunshine take over. The morning light is really good for your overall wellbeing. Don’t forget to soak up some Vitamin D.
  1. Temperature
  • Cold bed to sleep in – Sleeping in a cold bed helps body temperature cool down and allows for a deeper sleep.
  • Warm-up stretching to wake up – Doing a few stretches in the bed itself will wake you up. You may follow that with some light warm-up stretching or a warm shower.
  1. Workout
  • Your body remembers what time you exercise and determines your sleeping hours based on that.
  • Regular exercise will help you sleep soundly.
  • Do not exercise before bed. Exercising may help you sleep soundly but doing it before sleeping, will only raise your body temperature and make it difficult to fall asleep. Hence allow your body to cool down before your bedtime.

  1. Food
  • Do not have a heavy meal before bedtime. Too much eating before bedtime interferes with the sleep cycle.
  • Eat at the same time every day. It is essential to have a consistent meal-time. Your body remembers how many hours are there between dinner and bedtime.
  1. Technology
  • Turn off all the electronics an hour before sleeping. It’s time for some bedtime rituals – you may read a book or write your journal or soak your feet in warm water.
  • Create a bedtime ritual, just like morning rituals; a bedtime ritual will help you sleep better and be more productive.

  1. I am 72. I agree. I am following more or less similar routine. Travel is the best medicine. Currently I am in Kohima reaching there from Thiruvananthapuram changing three flights. My return is also in the same way. But this gives me courage to go for next travel venture.
