Here’s a short ‘Mission Statement’ that will help you understand what we are trying to achieve.
Seniors Today will attempt:
• To be Collective Purpose, Collective Voice and Collective Power of the 60+ population to change the market based on their needs.
• To foster independence, reinforce their community involvement and ensure their dignity.
• To enable the elderly to live a quality life of their own choice, to enhance living quality in the community through the use of technology, people-oriented services and innovative methods.
• To value the rights, needs and living quality of the elderly and to enrich their lives.
• To empower them to lead meaningful and connected lives promoting independence, creating a sense of belonging along with a sense of purpose in life.
• To rid the minds of senior citizens of the fear that age means decline and retirement means redundancy, loneliness, isolation, loss of prestige and so on.
• To achieve fundamental changes in the lives of seniors by empowering them to live full lives as actively engaged citizens and to secure their rights to comprehensive high-quality services according to their changing needs.
• To address the growing problem of social isolation among the elderly.
• To address the issue of financial and social security in the silver and golden years. Senior citizens do not receive any pension from the government, although an accepted principle is that a person who pays taxes should on retirement get a certain portion back as pension. Senior citizens in India do not get social security and are dependent on their children in their final years, and that is a very unfortunate situation. Our organisation is dedicated to maintaining the independence and dignity of seniors.
• Providing a range of programmes and services to meet their recreational and social needs.
• Striving to be a diverse and inclusive organisation reflecting the many phases and walks of life that make up our country.
• Together we will genuinely strive to demonstrate the principles of diversity and inclusion that enrich our communities.
