Reminiscing: Jayaraman

A heartwarming life story of endings and new beginnings…

Born in small town Tripunithura in Kerala State, I did my schooling & College in Mumbai as my father was working in Mumbai. I graduated in Elect Engg from Sardar Patel College of Engg, Andheri. Started my career in Tata Electric and later on moved to the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar & Oman).Got married in 1986 and was blessed with 2 wonderful sons.

Unfortunately, my wife had some health issues from 2005. Her both kidneys failed and had to be put on dialysis. In spite of my being ready to donate my kidney, my wife succumbed to sudden cardiac arrest in the hospital itself in July, 2010 few days prior to Transplant. Both boys were studying in School & college. We were totally shattered. Life was going on somehow. But GOD had other plans.

In 2014, we had our school reunion in SIES, Matunga (Mumbai). We were meeting all my school friends after 43 years. During the meet, I met my classmate Seetha. She had also lost her husband in 2004. After her husband’s demise, she was doing voluntary service in Sathya Sai hospital in Andheri, Mumbai. Her son & daughter were married & settled in their lives.

We started sharing our interests and our thought wave too started matching since both of us were active in spiritual activities. Our Class mates observed our chemistry and persuaded us to look into a marital relationship for companionship during our old age. We approached our children for their final consent. All our 4 children agreed whole heartedly for our marriage. Subsequently, we approached our respective families, who also agreed happily. Finally we got married 6 years back at my residence in Bangalore one day prior to my 60th Birthday. It was attended by all our children, our relatives and many of our classmates. Seetha’s Mother in Law (who was 90 years) came all the way from Mumbai to bless us. It was all HIS Divine Grace.

After marriage, I rejoined my old company in Muscat, Oman. Seetha continued the voluntary service in Indian School Muscat for the Special Children. In 2020, we finally returned from Muscat for Good prior to the Lockdown.

We are now happily settled in Bangalore and leading an active life pursuing our passion – Singing, Gardening and also acquiring new knowledge like Veda Chanting & Acupressure through online classes   . We have developed a beautiful garden in our terrace during this lockdown.

We thank the Almighty for Blessing us abundantly and express our sincere gratitude to our wonderful children for supporting us in this new relationship and our entire family and school friends for making our life meaningful, fulfilling & happy.
