Ganesh Chaturthi is finally here, and so is the joy of having the heavenly presence of Lord Ganesha at our homes. At the same time, it’s equally bittersweet to bid goodbye to him. Hence, it’s quite natural to stay with him right until his visarjan. But as senior citizens, it is necessary to take care of certain things, or rather certain rules of visarjan, while taking part in Bappa’s visarjan, so that you can peacefully bid adieu to our beloved Ganpati Bappa.
1. Participate from home:
Visarjans tend to get really crowded and chaotic, especially during peak hours. Thus, opt for locations and times that are quieter and less crowded. Another preferable option is to stay in the comfort of your own home and watch Ganpati visarjan on TV through livestreams.
2. Go with a companion:
Whenever you go for a Ganpati visarjan, always have a family member or friend accompany you. The company would feel nice, and would keep you safe from getting lost. You can even participate in the visarjan with your society or colony members. In this way, you can enjoy the visarjan and be safe.
3. Do not carry/wear valuables:
Visarjans are crowded and hence, carrying or wearing any valuables like jewellery would be a risk, as it might get stolen. Hence, avoid carrying valuable and expensive items.
4. Wear and pack light:
Visarjans might take longer to happen, and can sometimes be hectic. Thus, wear something comfortable and lightweight, so that traveling becomes easier. Opt for light colored and airy clothes paired with sandals.
5. Carry a Contact Card:
Make a contact card with your name, emergency contact information, address, and any medical information (like asthma, diabetes, etc.). You can also carry medicines, if required. Carry this contact card in your pocket or a small bag.
6. Keep Yourself Hydrated:
Dehydration can also be a problem, especially for longer hours of Visarjan and crowds. Hence, always carry a bottle of water with you, so that you can keep your body adequately hydrated.
7. Sharing Live Location:
One last precaution before going for the Visarjan: share your live location with your family members, maybe with your spouse, children, or even friends. Set it with an 8-hour timer if sharing on WhatsApp.
As we prepare to bid a heartfelt farewell to Lord Ganpati for this year, let’s remember that devotion doesn’t require discomfort. Whether you are joining the visarjan festivities in person or offering your prayers from home, your safety and peace of mind matter just as much as your faith. With these few mindful steps, you can celebrate Bappa’s journey with joy, safety, and dignity. After all, Ganesh Chaturthi is not just about rituals; it’s about togetherness, gratitude, and the gentle strength that seniors bring to every celebration.
