A cancer survivor talks about her battle became a testament to resilience, faith and the healing power of all those who stood by her
A few years ago, I embarked on a journey that would redefine my strength. I was handed a chapter no one would like to read: Cancer.
Generally, such a diagnosis steals your breath, but I decided that it will not steal my fight. For me, it was about embracing the unknown with my head high and finding light when the room looked dark.
I believe “Universe Works for The Brave”. Once I accepted the situation, my mind took over the matter. Through the uncomfortable nights and fragile mornings around the chemotherapy, I learnt to navigate the unknown with courage and positivity at every twist and turn.
Losing weight was a fun bonus. I looked like an international model. Hair loss was just another chance to sport a new look and God simply gave me a bold new crown!
My husband turned into a rockstar masseur, studying my reports like sacred texts and was a pillar of strength all the way.
My children became my spine when mine was bending. Their hugs, affection and care pulled me towards recovery every single day.
The journey was not mine alone, a big part was gratitude towards my extended families, dear friends who were always by my side with food, prayers and stubborn hope.
I am grateful to strangers who whispered my name to God.
My heart goes to an unknown donor whose blood now is in rhythm with mine!
He will be in my silent prayers.
Gratitude goes to my doctors par excellence who were emotionally and physically always there by my side and provided the best medical care.
When the days were tough, I felt the blessings from Heaven from my loved ones . I truly believe they kept me safe and gave me strength.
“Faith makes all things successful while love makes all things easy.”
I leaned on these words, and they carried me through!

To anyone walking on a similar path I will say it is okay to crawl, take one step at a time, find your crew, laugh when it hurts.
Nothing is permanent and here is what’s most important: Lean on love!
Today, I stand on the other side, stronger and healthier with a story to tell and quiet pride!
Now, it is growing older without letting the zest leak out of life and am certain of one thing that “life may not be the party we hoped for but while we are here, we may as well dance joyfully,” and I strongly believe that “the road’s next turn will be the best “
