6 Reasons Why You Should Replace Your Fabric Softener with Vinegar

Though fabric softener makes your clothes soft and leaves them smelling lovely, vinegar is the lost cost and environmentally sound alternative.

In case you are still debating the pros, these 6 reasons will drive home why you should replace your fabric softener with inexpensive white vinegar:

 1. Less chemicals

Natural vinegar’s name says it all: natural. It is therefore less polluting when it enters the water than fabric softener. This agent is often a lot more chemical and therefore less friendly to your home and to the environment.

2. Cheaper option

A bottle of natural vinegar doesn’t cost much and that’s not something we can say about fabric softener. It is therefore a much cheaper alternative that works just as well. Vinegar makes your clothes just as soft.

3. No irritation

Whereas fabric softener residue in your clothes can sometimes lead to irritation, vinegar is much less likely to cause itching. If you have sensitive skin or abrasive clothing, vinegar can be a solution.

4. Descaling your washing machine

Vinegar is a true multi-tasker. While making your clothes nice and soft, it can also reduce lime scale build-up in your washing machine. This leads to a longer lifespan for your washing machine and gets rid of bad smells. Two birds, one stone!

5. Cleaner fabrics

Fabric softener also coat cloth fibres making clothes and towels harder to clean because of the build- up residue (much like too much conditioner coating your hair). Get cleaner clothes by dropping your softener.

6. Colour retention

Vinegar doesn’t just make your clothes softer; it also helps your clothes keep their colour. It’s always nice knowing your favourite shirt or kurta won’t be ruined after just a few washes! Vinegar helps not only coloured laundry loads but also protects black loads.

Here’s What You Need To Do:

Simply add ¼ cup of white vinegar to the fabric softener dispenser or to a fabric softener ball. The white vinegar will act as a fabric softener AND it will keep your washing machine smelling fresh and clean!
