Every region has its unique pickles and most families seem to have their own precious recipes.
Every grandma has had her own recipe that she passed down the generations like a family heirloom.
Today 90 year old grandma Sudarshan Anand showed us her traditional take on Chicken Achar Recipe.

Ingredients
½ kg Chicken
Mustard Oil
Finely Chopped Ginger & Garlic 100 gram
Salt
Lal Mirchi
Haldi
Raai (mustard seeds)
Vinegar
Method
- Add three tablespoon of mustard oil, once oil heated up add finely chopped garlic and let it cook for five minutes
- Then add ginger (100 grm) and mix it well and cook it well
- Once its cooked add Haldi, Salt and Red chili powder (1 tbl spoon)
- Add Half kg chicken. Cook it for 20 minutes and then turn off the gas
- In chicken add Raai (2 tbl spoon) and vinegar (half cup)
- Store in dry container
