“No one needs a trumpet to celebrate the day. Just two lips and vocal cords to be able to sing out; ‘to to to toooo!’” says Ron Gordon who coined World Trumpet Day
Our days are indeed getting more cheerful. When we celebrate with music, life certainly takes on an unrivalled sweetness.
Says Ron Gordon, a retired teacher of mathematics from California on his website – http://trumpetday.net – “I am thinking of calling Feb. 2, 2022, ‘Trumpet Day,’ because it’s 2/2/2022, which is sort of the sound that a trumpet makes.
So today is designated as Trumpet Day— (Given its sound effect—too, too, too-too!)
“No one needs a trumpet to celebrate the day. Just two lips and vocal cords to be able to sing out ‘to to to toooo!’” laughs the numerical professor.
“Trumpet Days are rare,” Gordon said. “We have only two true Trumpet Days in a century, 2/22/2 and 2/2/22. Two others merit recognition: 2/2/2 is but a toot short, and the upcoming February 22, 2022, or 2/22/22 (as is written in the U S), is a little too (t) long.
Want to join in the celebrations? The Trumpet Day Contest features a shared prize worth—-$2,222!
Let’s cheer for this creative math professor who’s added some joy to our lives. Gordon has a Facebook page for a virtual event. Sign in, tell your friends, and give them a toooot or two!!
