Reminiscing: Seema Nag Bose

As they say, life is like the waves which rise and fall. Sometimes we are happy, and some times, we are sad.

First of all, I’d like to thank Seniors Today for giving me this platform to express my feelings and experiences.

I remember the time when I’d first met Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of the National Bravery Awards. I’d always admired him, looked up to and I’d always dreamt of meeting him and then during that function, I couldn’t gather the courage to go and meet him, but to my surprise, he walked up to me and my team and praised our performance. That was like a dream come true! I couldn’t believe my eyes, I couldn’t believe that a person of such stature would be so humble to walk up to us and appreciate us!

I still get goosebumps when I think of that time.

My second happy moment was when I saw my daughter direct her short film. Before this, I’d always craved to go on a film set, I was intrigued about the shooting process but then seeing my daughter in her own film set, made me extremely happy!

And as they say, life is like waves, sometimes we are happy, and some times, we are sad. I, too had a low phase in my life when I was transferred to Jammu during my career as the Music HOD at Kendriya Vidyalaya. As per the rules, the teachers had to be transferred to a hard station in their tenure, and my hard station was Jammu. Alone and scared, I lived through the hardships and troubles in the CRPF camp of Jammu, where I would hear bombs explode, spend hours in electricity cuts and live with minimal resources. But soon that phase got over and I was reunited with my family, and all that sadness turned into happy times again for which I’ll always be grateful to my God.

Thank you.
