Dal Palak or Spinach Dal is a very simple yet delicious Indian dish made with lentils, spinach, and seasoned with few spices.
Here’s how to make this flavourful Dal Palak.
Ingredients:
250 gm Spinach Finely Chopped
1 Cup Toor Daal (Soaked)
1 Cup Masoon Daal (Soaked)
1 Cup moong Daal (Soaked)
2 Onions Finely Chopped Medium Size
1 Tomato finely chopped big size
3 tbsp Cooking Oil (Tadka)
2 Tbsp Ghee
½ tsp. Cumin seeds
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 tbsp Coriander Finely chopped
½ tbsp Red chili powder
¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Garam masala
Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat a pan, add ghee once its hot sprinkle cumin seeds, roast for 15-20 seconds
- Next, add onion, ginger garlic paste, sprinkle salt and cook until light golden
- Add tomatoes, cook until they soften, and then add Soaked Daal and Let it cook for 5 minutes
- Sprinkle salt, cook stirring continuously for 2 minutes or until the water evaporates
- Add Spinach and cook well
- On a low flame add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and lastly the boiled Moong Dal
- Next, on medium heat let it cook, to increase its consistency add lukewarm water accordingly
- On medium-full heat let it come to a boil, stirring occasionally, later add chopped coriander leaves
- Dal Palak is ready to be served, take it out in a bowl and enjoy with bread , rice or roti
