The Seniors Kitchen: Aloo Chana Dal

A simple healthy delicious satvik dish that you can enjoy with fresh hot crispy puris!

Ingredients 

4 Green Chillies 

One Cup Fresh Coriander 

Two Pieces Ginger 

Salt – Red Chilli Powder 

Haldi Powder 

Jeera Powder 

Two Teaspoon Sugar 

Mustard Oil 

Kashmiri Mirchi 

Panch Phoron 

Potatoes 

Chana Dal

Method 

  • With a Hand Grinder mash the Green Chillies and Ginger make sure it is nicely mashed. 
  • Now preheat a pan, add one cup Mustard Oil, Swirl it around. 
  • Now add Kashmiri Mirchi and the Panch Phoron, Mustard Seeds, Black Jeera, Normal Jeera, Saunf and Akkha Methi.
  • Mix it well. 
  • Now add the Ginger & Chilli Mash and mix that.
  • Now add Haldi, Red Chilli Powder and mix. 
  • Now add the Chana Dal and mix it well.
  • Now just mash in the Potatoes and mix that well, make sure the Potatoes are nicely coated in the masala. 
  • Now add one Glass of Cold Water and put lid on it. When you take the lid off make sure all the water has dried up. 
  • Now add Salt as per your taste, One Teaspoon Jeera Powder, Three Teaspoon Sugar and One Cup Fresh Coriander. And give it a good stir.
