The Seniors Kitchen: Masala Bhel

Bhel is a popular Indian savory snack made with puffed rice, tossed with tangy chutneys. It is a quick & easy snack to prepare at home and is also served over road side stalls often in paper cones.

Bhel is also available at most Indian joints and is served as a tangy and crunchy snack for teatime.

Bhel has a strong association with the city of Mumbai and is the dominant snack on beaches such as Chowpatty

 

Ingredients 

Murmura

Singdana & Chana

Green Chutney (Green Chilly, Dhaniya, Jeera, Sugar & Saunf)

1 Tablespoon Chaat Masala

Farsan or Sev

Chopped Tomatoes & Onions

Lemon

 

Method 

Add 2 small bowls of murmura

Then add chopped onion & Tomato and Green Chutney

Add singdana & chana with farsan

Then add chaat Masala and if you like spicy bhel add red chili powder .Mix it well

Squeeze lemon and sprinkle chopped dhaniya (coriander) before serving
