The Seniors Kitchen: Sweet & Spicy Red Chilly Chutney

The Sweet & Spicy Red Chilly Chutney recipe by Sukaina Esmail is a must try for those of you who love your accompaniments with your food. 

Ingredients

 25 dried Kashmiri red chillies

 250 grams jiggery

 25 grams tamarind 

12 cloves garlic (peeled) 

2 teaspoons whole cumin 

1 cup drinking water 

Salt to taste 

 

Method

  1. Soak the red chillies overnight in water.
  2. The next morning, grind the soaked chillies in a food mixer till they are coarse. 
  3. Chop the jaggery fine and add it to the chillies. Then add the tamarind, garlic, cumin and salt. 
  4. Add the water and blend to a fine paste. 
  5. Serve with snacks.
