Ways to Tell If You Or Your Partner is an Old Soul

Loving an old soul and being loved by an old soul is something everyone must experience, and let me tell you- it is life changing! They are different from us regular folk. They view the world differently, blooming with inner beauty, are moralistic to the tee but that’s the way they lived.

What does it mean to have an old soul?

Some use the term to literally describe a soul that’s been reborn many times before, especially if you believe in reincarnation. Some believe it’s a person who is wise beyond their years. Grounded and mature to a point where superficial things don’t affect them and more so the acceptance of life as it unfolds. Old souls are simply people who have tapped into wisdom on a deeper level from an earlier age.

Are you wondering if you or your partner is an old soul?

These are some old soul signs to look out for —

An old soul is an authentic person-

An old soul is unapologetically authentic and honest. They don’t like to people please, pretend to like things or hide things. They are true to themselves and never hide their true identities. Authentic people are morally superior. Old souls don’t play games with other people’s feelings especially if it means putting someone else down to get ahead in life. If you or your partner is authentic in the way you live, act and think, there’s a good chance you are an old soul.

Old souls are homebodies and enjoy their alone time-

Old souls love to spend a huge chunk of their time at home. They would rather eat dinner and watch a movie at home instead of going out to a bar or party. While they are adventurous people, they don’t need constant excitement to feel fulfilled. Old souls find comfort inside their home and are happy in their own company. People with old souls are emotionally aware and they need time to be with their thoughts and time by themselves to recharge. Generally speaking, old souls like to and need to spend time alone every now and then.  Their desire to be alone has nothing to do with you, but it’s something an old soul truly needs.

Old souls have an inquisitive and curious mind-

Old souls are curious people. They want to know things, learn and grow. They want to know what’s going on around them but don’t care much about superficial news.

Old souls are simple and not materialistic-

Old souls don’t care about materialistic things. They appreciate the simple things in life like spending time with loved ones, intimate moments together or experiencing new cultures and places. Expensive and material things hold little to no value to them. While everyone has a few cherished and sentimental belongings, old souls don’t get too attached or find contentment with material possessions. Old souls aren’t enamoured by wealth or materialism. They are content with very little and with whatever they have. Their simplicity is refreshing and preferred.

Old souls are wise beyond their years and can see the bigger picture of life-

If you’re an old soul, you can probably see beyond appearances and see through people’s facades. You have the ability to step back, analyse a situation, see the bigger picture and realise what truly matters. You are wise beyond your years, trivial things do not bother you. Old souls are drama free and stay away from mind games and trouble whenever they can.

Old souls value deep connections-

An old soul values meaningful relationships. They like to connect with people on a deeper and intimate level. One-on-one or smaller groups of social gatherings are a trump card. Old souls crave meaningful connections. Superficial relationships do not do anything for them. Strong intuition is one of the hallmarks of being an old soul. You can recognize when someone will make a great friend or someone you can connect with.

Old souls are empathetic-

Being deeply empathic and mature are some other characteristics of an old soul. They are aware of people’s pains and can feel it on their shoulders as well. An old soul feels deeply connected to everything, making them highly empathetic people.

Trends and fads don’t matter to old souls-

Olds souls obviously don’t live under a rock. They are aware of the new trends and fads in the world but just don’t feel the need to keep up. Material things do not interest or concern them and are content with what they have. Having the latest phone or being spotted at the hippest bar in town isn’t on their radar.

Spiritual life is important to an old soul-

Old souls are spiritual beings. They have strong connections with the mind, body and soul.

An old soul values freedom-

An old soul needs to be given freedom. They like to do their own thing and tend to blossom when given the space and freedom to do so.

 Old souls love differently-

Old soul love is unconditional. They have no fear in expressing their love. Always willing to lend a listening ear and be a shoulder to lean on, old souls are very romantic and old fashioned lovers. Romantic and chivalrous gestures come naturally when an old soul is in love.

Is being an old soul a good or bad thing?

Having an old soul simply means that you perceive things differently. It’s not necessarily a good or bad thing. An old soul’s unique perspective and way of living life can be their greatest strength or weakness… it all depends on how to look at it. Just like everything in life, challenges do arise when you think differently but that doesn’t make it all bad.

Final thoughts…

There are so many ways we can think about souls, old and new. Everyone is different in their own way and based on your beliefs of reincarnation or not there are distinct characteristics that set an old soul apart. An old soul is a unique person. Someone who is simple in their desires, knowledgeable and wise, calm and collected, deeply intuitive and most importantly a valuable person.

Are you a curious, wise or calm person?

You might be an old soul.

Maybe if you’re lucky enough, you might just find yourself partnered with one too.
