World Animal Day

World Animal Day

Like humans, animals are also sentient living beings. Like humans, the planet equally belongs to the animal and plant world.

Their lives are equally affected by Covid-19 and changes in our ecosystem and environment. The actions of individuals, businesses and nations have had a direct impact on all animals.

World Animal Day is a day of action recognised worldwide for animal rights as well as welfare. It is celebrated on 4 October, Francis of Assisi feast day, the animals’ patron saint.

The mission of this day is raising the status of animals to improve welfare standards worldwide. Building the celebration of this day brings together the animal welfare movement, and mobilises it to become a global force in making the world that we live in a better and safer place for all animals.

The World Animal Day is celebrated in various ways in every nation, irrespective of political ideology, faith, religion or nationality.

Through increased awareness plus education, let us pledge to create a world whereby animals are always acknowledged as sentient beings plus full regard is constantly paid to their welfare by showing them more understanding, compassion and support.
