Music director Madan Mohan composed some of his best songs for Lata Mangeshkar. ‘Lag Ja Gale’, picturised on Sadhna and Manoj Kumar, remains an eternal favourite. Right from the main melody to the instrumental bridges to the antaras, this has brilliance written all over. Lyrics are by the under-rated Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, who sadly had a premature death at 38.
